Florida scholarships are available for single mothers who want to start or continue their education in college are available in varying monetary amounts. Some awards range in the few hundred dollars, while the higher end scholarship awards for single mothers range in the tens of thousands of dollars.
Today, we will discuss a few scholarship opportunities that single mothers can take advantage of to try and receive the money to further their educational goals.
The Mary Ellen Burnett Scholarship that starts at $500 and up is based on need, merit, and the number of eligible applicants. If you have graduated from any of the following, you are particularly eligible for this scholarship: Umatilla High School, Tavares, South Lake, Mount Dora, Leesburg, Eustis, or East Ridge.
The Florida Association of Post-Secondary Schools and Colleges Scholarship Program offers anywhere from full tuition to $5,000 and $1,000 scholarships. This scholarship, however, is aimed at younger students who have recently graduated or received their GED. To qualify, you must have at least a 2.0 GPA or higher, or have been awarded a GED between March and February of the previous school year.
